The surge of IBD, or inflammatory bowel disease, among Americans has grown so severe that a respected medical institution, UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, has created a new Crohn’s and Colitis Program to help victims of IBDs. The center also is studying the IBD increase to learn what has caused it.

One clear answer could be Accutane, an acne treatment designed to clear up severe acne. Since its introduction in 1982 until its recall in 2009, it’s been used by millions of Americans, and recently has been shown to cause IBDs ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease (also known as Crohns disease) among Accutane users.

Meanwhile, UT Southwestern is doing its best to assist those suffering from frequent bloody diarrhea, weight loss and severe abdominal pain due to suffering an IBD.

Their numbers continue to grow, with 30,000 new cases of IBD diagnosed in America yearly.  A million Americans already suffer the painful and embarrassing condition.

Perhaps the Dallas institution will learn from recent Accutane lawsuit activity in which it’s been demonstrated that Accutane’s manfacturer, Roche Pharmaceuticals, was negligent in manufacturing and marketing the defective drug.

It seems Accutane’s active ingredient, Isotretinoin, doesn’t just conquer severe acne, but also unleashes IBD and other injuries among many of its millions of users. And these injuries can manifest themselves years after a patient took the prescription drug Accutane.

UT Southwestern not only will help IBD sufferers with a variety of specialists, but also will conduct research to learn more about the lifelong, debilitating and incurable diseases of ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. Meanwhile, it can offer treatment to sufferers but, sadly, no cure.

Crohn’s disease can affect any part of the digestive system, while ulcerative colitis, also called UC, is more focused on the large intestine and the rectum.

These diseases also produce a higher degree of cancer risk among patients. And they certainly reduce their quality of life, since sufferers often must endure sudden bowel movements including bloody diarrhea, as well as severe abdominal pain.

Americans who suffer ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease must ask themselves: Did I take acne drug Accutane? And if the answer is yes, then they may have a strong case against Roche Pharmaceuticals, the Swiss company which made and sold the defective drug.

As an Accutane lawsuit, such a case can be pressed in states across America with help from the national attorney service of Accutane Lawsuit Lawyer.com.
